Clay & Vine

The Dreamer: Dixie

"Clay & Vine" will be 2 years old this November. During the height of Covid, this nurse of 24 years lost her passion. Burnout & what was supposed to be healthcare, made me question my career choice. I cried. I prayed (a lot), and I begged God to lead me in a different direction. I also spent a lot of time in my garden, as well as reading. Reading my Bible and reading about natural remedies. I found myself wanting to grow my own “medicines” from God-given sources. My grandmother always used natural remedies on us as we were growing up. I’ve since learned that my great-grandmother was a forager. She collected plants, dried them, and made her own natural remedies. She had a recipe box full. What I would give to have those, and know what she knew. My love of plants was handed down from generations. I dreamed of owning my own little plant shop. My wonderful husband makes the most beautiful pottery, so it only seemed fitting to call the dream “Clay & Vine.” God was laying the groundwork right there in His word.

“We are the CLAY, and HE is the potter…” Isaiah 64:8.

“HE is the VINE, we are the branches…” John 15:5.

As I continued to learn more about natural remedies, I learned how to grow my “medicines” from seed, dry, infuse and create. My herb garden flourished. I knew that I had found my passion once again. My family, myself & even my dogs became guinea pigs to my creations. I’m happy to report positive feedback from Eden. God soon opened doors & sent people who were interested in selling my products in local markets. I am adamant that every single ingredient be natural, organic, grown by me, or as locally sourced as possible, and always from trusted resources. Most importantly, everything created in my kitchen is prayed over in hopes of blessing the one who purchases & uses each product.

So who knew this wife, mother, grandmother, dog-mom, plant loving, nurse of 26 years now, who grew up in Pike County & transplanted to Barnesville, would find her passion restored in her own little backyard?!

Won’t HE do it?!!
